How about you use your own Wifi?
Anyway, most wifi networks use MAC addresses now, so it would be pointless to hack the WEP key.

Such an app would be illegal because it gives you FREE internet. And besides, the iPod Touch's wifi card doesn't have enough to inject packets.

you don't need to inject packets. Theres an app under development called iWep but it's illegal and we

    DO NOT CONDONE IT!

WEP cracks take a long ass time to crack its not worth trying to

    basically, this.

There was an app a while ago, but it could *only* hack the WEP, you had to upload a list of possible passwords via SSH, and even in a "setup" situation (intentionally setting your router to be locked only via the WEP key, then putting that password into the list), it took something like 45 minutes to get in.

It also sucked up the battery life, so by the time you would actually get into the network, you'd need to recharge your Touch.

It's just not worth it on the Touch/iPhone. It's faster and easier to just go somewhere else and find an open network.

it was a *nix-port of the aircrack-ng suite to the ipod which could crack the collected IV-dumps

the ipod/iphones wifi card doesn't support monitor-mode at all so you can't capture IV's by yourself - and in addition to that capturing IV's without creating senseless traffic using injection would take ages if the network isn't too busy

from above most household routers only use wep or wap encryption and not mac filtering, also as stated the ipod touchs wifi card cannot enter monitor mode which is required to inject packets, actually most available wifi cards cannot enter this mode as well. finding a card that does support monitor mode is very difficult i have one and even cracking my own wifi takes quite some time with all the right tools. The ipod will never have enough power or chip in order to crack a wifi encrypted. Also the other posted stated brute forcing (i think, mentioned using a dictionary) which most routers are set up to shut-down after an amount of wrong keys and also this can take years to find the right one especially if its 128bit encryption

    to clear some things:
the WEP encryption cannot be cracked using bruteforce since WEP connections always return a "connection established" but the router and the device won't understand each other (the ipod/iphone validates that - pcs/laptops don't)
WPA can be cracked using bruteforce/dictionairy attack and ONLY with this method.

WEP is an encryption standard that has some weaknesses that's why capturing datapackets and extracting the IVs from them can let you decrypt the used key.

to capture these packets you have to have a wifi card that supports monitor-mode at least (they're very easy to find, look at the aircrack-ng compatibility chart) and the best is to have a card supporting monitor-mode AND packet-injection.

with that you can create traffic:
just capture ONE single datapacket or build yourself ones with other captured data and "inject" (force-reply) that packet to the router. you cannot read the packet but the router can so it will answer some stuff which are also datapackets (but you still can't decrypt them untilyou have enough of them).
if you do not inject you have to wait for datapackets coming over the wifi-network and that depends on how high the load is on the network.

    and back to the topic:
1.ipod/iphones card do not support monitor-mode neither do thy supporm injection-mode
2.processor power will be too less to have the captured IVs cracked
3.battery-power will never be enough to capture enough packets
