i know that you can change the wifi bars at the top of the ipod touch. i know how to ssh my ipod and all that stuff (im not a newbie at this stuff). for a while now ive been trying to change the wifi signal bars and ive read many tutorials and my signal bars still wont change. ive put it all in the right folder in the themes. do i have to overwrite the airport files in the root? can anyone give me a good tutorial that explains everything?

    Found one, No SSH

    OK!

So it's pretty much almost midnight so i'll make it quick...

In cydia you can search "signal bars for iTouch"
Should be by BigBoss and it will change your wifi bars to the signal bars.

Note: I'm right next to my router and it's too late to go outside so I'm not sure if they actually move to less with less signal but I like the way it looks.

Also, anyone else looking for a way to SSH itno the interactive bars.[bars move according to signal strength]

put them ALL [8] in /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app, replacing the old ones and setting their permissions to 755

    Enjoy!

Hmm, I gave it a go, but no luck. I assume apple changed the base files or whatever so they're either of a different name, or in a different folder in the 4.0 iOS system so was wondering if anyone knew where/by what name

    It should be the same...
I did some quick research and in
    http://agrawalamod.wordpress.com/os-4-news-and-tweaks/
    i found this little Excerpt:

"...In fact, iPhone Dev Team has included the multitasking hack into the iPhone OS 4.0 jailbreak tool so that user does not have to perform the hack manually.

The setting to change to enable and turn on multitasking feature on iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G is “multitasking” directive on the capabilities plist in SpringBoard (SB) app (N82AP.plist), located at (/System/Library/CoreService/SpringBoard.app/N82AP.plist. N82AP.plist is one of the two main files in System Directory. By default, the value is set as “multitasking=false”. By changing the value to “multitasking=true”, the mult-tasking can be enabled on non-supported devices too."

If you take a look at the destination, it is the same as the one I used. try scrolling down, they should just be files that say Default_#_Airport and FSO_#_Airport...

let me know if this helps so i can maybe look into it as bit more.

Sorry so late, I just got off work

    Thanks

Thanks, but I tried again, but yeah, in the iOS 4, there's no such files in that folder, so I assume they've been changed, and I haven't had any luck finding out where/what they've been changed to.

    Hey, they changed them:

    The WifiBars are now called:
    Black_0_WifiBars.png
    Black_1_WifiBars.png
    Black_2_WifiBars.png
    Black_3_WifiBars.png
    Silver_0_WifiBars.png
    Silver_1_WifiBars.png
    Silver_2_WifiBars.png
    Silver_3_WifiBars.png

And they go in the UIImages folder of your theme.
