Hello, I'm new to the Ipod Touch and to WiFi.

So far I really like my Touch. What I am curious about is how secure is the wifi on these things?

For instance, if I am at random coffee house, pull out my Touch and connect to "Free Public WiFi" and use Safari to do something that involves a password, like checking my email or my online banking, how secure is the wifi connection?

Is there some sort of encrypting of the info I send or can somebody else be snagging that info as it gets sent out into the aether?

Sorry for such newbie questions and thanks for any clues you can impart to me.

I'm actually a paranoid freak and do not trust any network so if your doing something secure like oh say credit card stuff... I suggest waiting til you get home or using a laptop and using a vpn to get to your home network. Thats me though.
