Anyone got wifi adhoc to work for the iPOD Touch?

I got a laptop connect to a LAN line Cat 6 cable. I want to activate the wifi on this laptop to make it an ad hoc shared for the iPOD Touch. I google a few site but couldn't get it to work.

Anyone got it to work, and how?

iPOD doesn't seem to detect any wifi signal from the laptop.

How about a bit more explanation
its been 55 years since I've been there, and in thosedays we only carried pencils and paper. Are you saying that your laptop has a Wi-Fi card so you have it talking to/from your I-Touch?

    If So, That sounds wonderful.

My wired lan terminates in 4 wi-fi-less PC's. I just bought a Linksys G-Router so that I can monkey with the iTouch anywhere on the lot! BTW, it's not installed yet because I have to rig my Haloween "skit" for the kids (a Heart Transplant operation!, any volunteers ?)

Hey I'm also very interested in how you did this. My university's WiFi access is WPA which isn't compatible with the touch. They told me that they would work on this but.....
I was wondering if this was possible and I'm very excited to try it.

    Edit:
So I got the iPod to see the network and connect but then when I try to use the WiFi on the Touch it give me the "can't find server" error.
Is this because I WEP encyrpted it? Or is it because the network that the laptop is running off of is WPA?

    Edit 2:
I'm really dumb. Obviously I can't use the wireless for my Laptop and share it...
So I shared the Ethernet connection instead and it works perfectly.

I couldnt get it to work, but this is what I did so far..

    1) On the laptop / PC, go to the wireless network connection properties. Click on the Wireless Network tab click on Add a new network. Fill out a bunch of stuff and at the bottom, check the box next to where it say, this is an ad hoc connection

    2) Go to the advance tab and click on shared networking

I think that was it from the PC perspective, unless I am missing something.

This is based upon the assumption your PC is connected via a LAN connection i think.
