What the world ready needs is an application that would let you connect your computer to the internet via the wireless card in the ipod touch/iPhone. I don't like running CAT5 cable! I want full credit for the idea!

you mean to tether your iPhone to the laptop for its EDGE connectivity? There are many hack tutorials to make this possible. As for the iPod, I don't understand you because it only has an wifi adapter therefore does not have alwayson connection like the iPhone

what I mean is useing the iPod/iPhone as a USB wifi card. This way you can connect to the Internet if you have 2 computers (one at one side of the house hooked up to the iPod and one connected directly to the modom{which is in turn connected to a wireless router}) so the iPod picks up the wifi signal and let's to remote computer connect to the Internet(through the iPod). My thumbs hurt now

" well that's just not right lol

anyways there has been many posts about this and for now nobody has come to think that it is possible. as in there isnt iptables or ip_forward on the ipodtouch/iphone ...
maybe when the SDK will be released by apple, more developpers will be able to take a look and make something .. who knows

"Internet Connection Sharing" works on my Windows Mobile phone and does just that (well, for your wireless data network connection, anyway.)

Hey, Microsoft got something first in the mobile space. +1 for them

How did you find a notebook without built-in wifi? And why not buy a $10 USB wifi adapter for it?

I'd still go with a USB wifi adapter
