I live in a student corridor. If I walk out into the corridor there's a WiFi connection not 10 meters away, but it does no show up inside my room. Anyway to connect to it?

Not really, as the door/walls probably take away the power from it. If you know the location of it, you could try making a wifi extender out of aluminum foil (basically a mini satellite dish) and keep your ipod / computer antenna in front of it (pointing at the wifi).

But what does this have to do with the 2.0 firmware anyways?

The WiFi's SSID might be hidden. When trying to connect to the wireless network, use "Other" that is in the list of SSIDs. This will have you type in the SSID and the Password.

If it weren't broadcasting the SSID, then he wouldn't be seeing it at all, regardless of location.

go to best buy, they sell a device that can boomerang wifi. you have to position it somewhere that it can see the signal and it will broadcast it out. the omnidirectional ones work best.

I'm getting a router tomorrow, so this won't be a problem. Just spent 30 minutes in the hallway updating stuff. Good thing it's 5AM here so noone saw me...
