Hello guys, I finished downloading iTunes 8.0, and after that I started to download the latest firmware (2.1) took me about 75 mins (connection sucks, i know.)

for some reason, after the download was finished, there was an error message when it was about to install. I don't remember what kind of error message. so I thought.. hmmm?

and then I tried to update again, then guess what? the whole download process started again.. and now 80 mins

so I tried to look for the downloaded firmware in it's usual location. but alas, no where to be found. Tried to look for it everywhere, but no cigar.

anyway, I'm now downloading the firmware from a direct link, just 1 hour and 20 mins (well that's just great..). I hope this one goes thru without any more hitch though. I'm really excited

    Download finished. Software is installing.

    BUT

There was an error again? and now, iTunes automatically placed my ipod into DFU mode (and this would be the 1st time I've seen DFU mode)

Then says, The iPod cannot be restored, an unknown error occured.

It's downloading the firmware again. This will be my third firmware download for the day.. hahaha.. wow.. my patience amazes me..

Yep.. I really hope it's worth it...

check to see if its downloading the right file, should have ipod1,1 at the beginning

to check the file goto C:\Users\Richard\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates (for vista dunno about xp or mac)

^ Thanks, yeah it is. What I did now is I removed all usb devices connected to my pc. and started to restore again using the file I downloaded earlier. iPod1,1_2.1_5F137_Restore

still keeps giving me that error.. very strange..
