Does the router you are trying to connect to have a WEP key? If it does, then go onto your iPod's WiFi settings and hit the blue arrow on the one you are trying to connect to and put in that number.
Ok, is your brother good with computers? Ask him if your router has a WEP Key or a Mac-Address filter. If he says yes to either, I'll tell you how to plug them in.
lol, do you know where the router is, there might be a sticker on the side or back of it with the WEP KEy on unless your bros changed it.

Anyways, with my router there was a key on a sticker inside the cd case thing. Just enter that in and see if it works.
