    Hello:

Recently, I don't know why my iPod touch's WiFi is not enabled automatically.

The network is properly detected by the way.

Instead I have to go to the settings, select the network and start using the WiFi.

Everytime I press the sleep button and wake up the iPod touch the WiFi is gone and I have to enable it manually.

Anyone has an idea on what could be going wrong?

    Thanks,
    Roberto

Perhaps you are too far away from the router and the signal is not consistent. I have this problem occasionally when I am in certain areas of my house.

Wifi shuts off when you put the device to sleep. Wake it, and wait a couple of seconds..it should re-enable.

It should automatically re-enable when in range. If it doesn't, it's simply because it is not picking up the signal for whatever reason.

Agreed. Also, the router may take a bit of time to reassign the IP to your ipod...

I know that wifi shuts off whenever I press the sleep button.

Unfortunately I can be in front of my router for several minutes and the iPod touch won't get the signal automatically.

I need to enable it manually.

    Any clues?

This shouldn't be happening. For me, it automatically re-connects upon unlocking the iPod when I'm in range.

So you need to make sure that 1) You have wi-fi turned on in the settings and 2) You are in range.

If the signal is not weak, and u have wifi enabled, and it drops intermittently.. could be a problem with your actual wifi hardware. Might need a repair.

Try restoring... It could be a software problem.
