This wallpaper is for the locked screen. You need summerboard to have it on the home screen.
    It has to be jailbroken.

As spoonforknife said, wallpaper is only for the screen you get when you return from sleep mode.

In order to have it the background for the main screen you are going to need to jailbreak it and use a program called summerboard. This program allows you to not only change the background, but also the icons.

Just search for Jailbreak 1.1.x or Summerboard...

BTW what firmware does your iPod has by default? Which week is it?

If you have 1.1.2, downgrade from one of many links. I think touch dev has one.
In itunes, press upgrade and shift (pc) or option (mac). Select the 1.1.1 file.

    On 1.1.1

    go to jailbreakme.com

Safari will crash, and installer will download.
In installer add some sources... check the stickied thread (all installer sources)
    Go to all.
    Find springboard. Download.

    CONGRATULATIONS! YOU DID IT!

    To upgrade to jailbreaked 1.1.2.
    Search for oktoprep in installer.
    Download.
    Upgrade to 1.1.2 through iTunes.

Goto this link on your ipod touch, tap "appsnapp" at the bottom, and wait until it jailbreaks. Thats it. Link: http://touchfree.googlecode.com/svn/...t/exploit.tiff
