i was wondering since people wants to express their own style,
    by modifying their gadgets, so
why wont apple just make official theme changer for the iphone
or the ipod touch or a tool for modifying themes or the gadget look...

or since changing theme can be done in a jailbroken ipod touch or iphone,
is it impossible for someone to create an application for this and
request for app store approval to post it in app store?

    i was just wondering...

as far as why apple doesn't make an official theme changing app who knows, i'd be happy if they would let us set our own pictures as the actual wallpaper instead of just forcing us to have a black blank background behind our icons.

as far as a dev creating an app like that for the appstore, that kind of thing breaks apples terms of use, etc so they would never approve it.

It IS possible to make it, but Apple will reject it! (Of course).

i think maybe Apple wants to sell this function like the Lyrics one or Updating from fw 1.x to 2.x, or maybe if they enable this func, they gotta have a new tab in Itunes, and who knows what would if they want to sell the themes exclusively or not :"))

Ever noticed with Winterboard, the ipod sometimes slows down? Its mainly due to all the graphics etc being loaded and the ipod not being able to handle it. However, this isn't really apparent in the 2G since its more powerfull.

Image if Apple released a theme changer and everyone started complaining that it ran slower. There goes some of Apples reputation.
Thats the main reason their App Store isn't open like the Google Marketplace. They only want to release high quality apps that won't make their iPod look bad when an application crashes it or it can't run

yup i think letting us set the wallpaper not just in the lock-screen
and have it set behind our apps icon rather than the pure black background
would be really nice, since icons are so far nicely done...
coz i already saw some screenshots of the normal icons and the
background is just the one changed...

i think it wouldn't use memory that much...

i guess wallpaper under app icons would be enough for me rather than the black backgroun...
i didn't care about those tweaks and everything...
i guess background wallpic would be nice and it won't slow the touch i guess...

How much time do you really spend staring at your home screen or lock screen?

A lot more if they added changeable themes.

Then again, that would take away some of the excitement of jailbreaking. The main reason that i jailbroke was to get themes.
