I think it's because they own Bigpond Music, and iTunes are just gonna make the money otherwise.

    Does anyone agree with me?

    I'm mad about this.. >_>

The 3G iPhone runs on three different types of frequencies: 850 MHz, 1900 MHz and 2100 MHz. Although Telstra's frequencies run on a combination of 900 MHz and 2100 MHz, which means the 3G iPhone would only run on one of their frequencies -- 2100 MHz.

Telstra's 2100 MHz frequency would only cover 56% of the population in Australia, which may be the reason why they haven't confirmed as a 3G iPhone carrier.

Congratulations on making your first post on iPodTouchFans, even though you've been registered since March.

But, you're going to get flamed very badly on this, as many people are going to completely disagree with you, including myself. You just might find Teslanaut around here too.

Well, IMO the iphone wont really be worth it untill it is jailbroke and unlocked. But then again the only thing really keeping me from the iphone is the forced data plan, not to mention I already have a ipod touch and a reliable cell.

If they dont have a iphone or ipod already, and are more than ok with spending 30 on data and 40+ on voice... Then the iphone 3g will be ok for them, just they gotta wait for a jailbreak.

I mean, why the hell would Apple lock their phone into only 2 carriers?

    So they get less money?

Less people buy the phone? What the hell?

I would assume it's so that they know who has control over selling/distributing the 3G iPhone, and they wouldn't want to have too many carriers providing the 3G iPhone, or it would be too overwhelming. This is only a guess, though
