First off, I do NOT own an iPhone. But correct me if i am wrong, but if a factory unlocked iPhone is updated to newest baseband It still retains the unlock. Why can the iPhone dev team not find whatever keeps the factory unloacked phone unlocked and apply it to a regular iPhone 3g. Are there hardware restrictions.

i believe each iphone has a different factory unlock.. if its like the blackberrys then each iphone has a specific number you dial and then it unlocks itself.
