If they set a submission date, that means that people will get annoyed and flame them if they don't meet that date. Its much easier and better for everyone involved to just say 'it will be out when its out'.

I know, annoys me too. But I'm fine with whatever month they state, such as Gang$tar is 'August'.

That NFL by gameloft is also 'two weeks time'.

But 'Coming Soon' or 'This Fall' is just plain annoying.

Usually when people ask me when the app will be finished I just say

"When it's finished it'll be finished"

    or

    "When it's ready"

It's hard to say when something will be ready because there are always bugs, errors, and general things that need to be changed. It's always better to release a fully prepared 1.0 version than a rushed one.

When asked "When will it be ready?", my husband would look up to the sky and say "hang on a sec, I'll ask God"

If they don't release it on the date previously announced, people get mad. If you keep it from the people, they can't get mad when you don't release it in time.

But I agree, they should be a tad more specific, maybe the month? That way there is a four week margin for problems.

    Uhhh... OK, how about this:
I had an app that was ready to be sold. I submitted it for approval. It is now two months later and I have yet to hear anything back from Apple. Estimated release date? I can't say. Some apps were approved in 4 days, this one hasn't been in 2 months.
