I just installed the new 3.0 firmware on my 1G touch. After doing so, I jailbroke it using redsn0w. I installed both cydia and icy. When I opened up cydia, it said that I needed to update. So I selected "Upgrade Essential". While it was updating, an error screen popped up. It said:

dpkg: parse error, in file '/var/lib/dpkg/status' near
    line 26 package 'firmware':
duplicate value for user-defined field 'Name'

Why did this happen? What do I need to do to fix this? I tried to down load a package. But it won't let me because of this.
    Thanks!

I've read that having Icy installed doesn't allow Cydia to run properly.

Try removing Icy and try again.
