I'm not complaining, Cydia is amazing, im just wondering, why is it web based? Like when you double tap a picture or text it zooms in like you are on a web site. Also, when you select something it has that grey-ish highlight, not the blue one you see in installer or other apps. Why did saurik do this?

Because the repos are web servers which serve .deb files, perhaps? Or did you think that Cydia magically accessed the files you were installing without use of the Internet connection? Or somehow crammed gigs of files onto your iPod or iPhone without you noticing?

Installer always worked the same way too. As for the grey? That's just the UI's setup in Cydia... or WinterBoard reskinned Cydia for you.
