why do you need to backup? When should you do it? What does it backup?

Finally, why do you backup, why not just restore?

All help will be appreciated. Thanks.

You need backups because if something were to happen to your iPod that needs a restore, you will lose everything if you do not back up your ipod. If you do back your ipod up, everything from your iTunes library will still be intact, and you will get everything back.
