Because a lot of people have the MC model which technically is considered 3rd gen but the only difference is that it's an MC model and less battery life compared to the MB model.

Hey, I don't think were allowed to talk about this. Did you read the rules? People write they have a 3G 8GB like me because there are 3 types of 8GB's 1: 1G 8GB (old bootrom) 2: 2G MB 8GB (old bootrom) 3: 2G/3G MC New model (New bootrom like 3g ipods) thats what i have. also in 2009 apple said the 8gb is a 3g

But Apple Have Stated on there website only 32GB & 64GB are the 3rd GEN iPod Touch.

The 3rd Gen Diffrences Are To The 2nd Gen Are :
    Diffrent Sizes (32GB&64GB)
Better RAM (256MB The 2G Has A 128MB) Thats Why 3G Have Multitasking Because its Faster because the RAM is Better And The Tests They Did On The 128MB RAM On The 2G Were Slow

The 3rd Gen Has The Same CPU and GPU internals from the iPhone 3GS.
The Last Is It Had Voice Control Which The 3GS has And The Headphone Had Volume Control
