    Hello,

Not too long after I jailbroke I started having a problem with my battery draining faster than normal. I tried some various things but then decided to just restore the OS then jailbreak again to start over.

Before I did I of course backed up using iTunes. However, when I went back into my device I found all my bookmarks were gone, all my saved games were gone (lost my civilization)(lost a lot of good game saves), and my notes in notepad. All my games are legally purchased, no hacks.

I thought the point of using iTunes to backup was so that, you know, you would have a backup.

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks!
    Mark

After restorng, it asks whether you wanna restore from a backup or a new device, you have to choose backup.

Yes, I chose from backup. I knew I didn't have a new device.

    Thanks.

I have heard stories of ios4 doing this thing where it deletes everything+music and stuff.

Did you sync before you restored?

Yes, I guess I used the wrong terminology. When I said backup I meant sync.

No, I don't sync with anything else, just iTunes.

I've heard before that app makers sometimes put saved data in the wrong location on the iDevice so when you sync/backup it doesnt save your game data and when you sync to a restored iDevice it doesnt have that data to copy back across. If that makes sense... :/

Yes, that does make sense. In this case though it was every game save, my bookmarks, and my notes. It's almost like I had accidentally checked some box in iTunes that said, "Don't be backin' up nothin' but the apps". Or something like that.
