Why aren't the mods doing anything about the spam?

    Like this guy, for example
    http://www.ifans.com/forums/member.php?u=48223

He's posted the same thread about his scam site THREE times. Only one of those threads were actually closed and he's not even banned! Actually, he's posted it more than three times because he's actually had several usernames before that.

and you can't say that you didn't see the thread or that you don't know about it either because
    1) I reported it
    2) there was a second spam thread earlier, which I also reported, and that was deleted but this one isn't?

I also PMed two mods on two different occasions about certain spam threads with absolutely no response from either and no action on those threads as well.

Sorry to be a b*tch about this but I, for one, don't want the rest of the users on this board to fall for these scams and for whatever reason, you mods don't seem to care.

I delete tons of these types of threads a day, sometimes I miss one or two. Either way, I took care of it. I don't see how this would relate to 'not caring', we simply missed it, this happens every once in a while.

Contrary to popular belief, the mods do not live and breath to delete spam. Just ignore it, it is much easier than complaining about it.

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend.

I was just relating it to 'not caring' because of my experiences with the mods here not doing anything when I've tried to be helpful with some of the spam threads, yet I never got any responses or action when I've gone ahead and reported threads.

I also thought at one point that it was because the mods were in on it! lol I mean, look at the following threads

this thread is an obvious spam thread for danuisoft
    http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7622

and then look at this thread started by a mod, Complexis
    http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2611

look at the wording.. it's almost exactly the same. Granted, Complexis hasn't visited the page in a long time but that kind of stuff is what I'm talking about.

oh and that iPodTouchfan spammer will probably be back again. i think he literally posts it every single day

Neither of those threads are 'spam'. If you take a look at the previous posts by both users those threads are the first time they posted something about the software. Both people were trying to help others that have asked the question 'How can I get music off of my iPod touch" many times. Those two threads could probably be merged since they are talking about the same thing, but they are spam.

Most spam is deleted immediately because it shows up on the 'New Posts' page. If we miss it I will probably get it in my 'daily' clean up where I take a look at all of the sections and look for shady posts. If it is still missed after that I (or another moderator) will notice it in my 'monthly' massive clean up. If it still is missed through all of that, then I most likely missed it and will not see it again. Spam happens on all forums, there is no way to avoid it, we just have to try to contain it.

it all starts with this thread
    http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?p=86317#post86317

Notice how sharker_richard mentions the trim function of the program when there is no mention of it in the original post?

    sharker_richard
    bluas7
    tracyjump
    blueberry287

This is how they make their spam look legit.. but making "guides" to their web pages and software.

    See how this thread
    http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?p=86317#post86317
and this thread are so similar?
    http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12194&highlight=aimersoft

In fact, let's look at a whois.sc lookup of both sites
    http://whois.domaintools.com/daniusoft.com
    http://whois.domaintools.com/aimersoft.com

    They're 99.9% alike.

and plus I guarantee if you do an IP lookup of all the users I posted above, they'll all originate from the same IP or at least the same general location unless they used a proxy.

*and yes, I know.. I'm too into this.. I guess I hate spammers too much*

but don't get me wrong, I appreciate all your work for this site! I just want to help!

Just give it up. The mods work hard, but they can't delete every since post that might be spam.

Again.. I'm not saying they have the ability to do it all and they just do their best. HOWEVER, I'm trying to help them with it and when I use the Report function and still nothing was done, I just wanted to know why and if I was just wasting my time by reporting in the first place.

Yeah dude just chill...The moderators have lives too...They can't just sit at their computers all day (even though they probably do.

Please Register or Log in to view images

) and delete spam...You just gotta ignore it...And if people fall for a stupid scam like what's been seen before...Then that's their fault.
