Gday guys, I have a quick question that I havnt found an answer to.

Is there any reason to jailbrake 1.1.2, when i could just do it on my version 1.1.1 ?

I mean is there any benefits of jailbraking 1.1.2 over 1.1.1 ?

    Thanks

nope. Look at 1.1.2 as vista, and 1.1.1 as xp.

I don't agree with that. On a technical side Apple compiled the firmware using different options. That equates to a generally quicker response time, apps run and launch quicker, etc*. Also, the sound quality is greatly improved. Specifically, there is less distortion at lower volumes.

Aesthetically, 1.1.2 gives iTunes a new battery icon to show.

    I love 1.1.2 and wouldn't use 1.1.1 again.

*I didn't notice the increase in speed until after I downgraded to 1.1.1 (this was ebfore the 1.1.2 Jailbreak. Once downgrading, the iPod seemed much, MUCH slower. The improved audio quality was instantly noticeable with 1.1.2.

i would upgrade my firmware but i cant. i did it once before not knowing that it would un-jailbreak my ipod and then i had to downgrade and jailbreak it again and do the preparations, but now if i try to upgrade it the firmware wont download from my itunes.

oh well its not a big deal anyway

So the best option is to not upgrade to 1.1.2?
    what about future upgrades?
is it important to upgrade to 1.1.2? or you can live with 1.1.1 until one year (if jailbreake didnt worked on 1.1.2?)

Best option is to upgrade to 1.1.2 imo. Future upgrades will most likely be cracked and in the worst case scenario, you just have to restore your ipod to its former state. 1.1.2 is ideal since it supposedly optimizes your battery life. Jailbreak works on 1.1.2 though you have to be sure to downgrade to 1.1.1 before you can have a jailbreaked 1.1.2. It is very much worth it.

Jailbreaking 1.1.2 is not a complicated process. Find a guide on this forum or use ipodtouchmaster's Youtube walk-through.
