it obviously wasn't made for the good of the many since this release might guarantee all future 3G S owners from jailbreaking and/or unlocking due to an apple update, the dev team said that waiting until 3.1 isnt a big sacrifice (compared to all future 3G Sers from jbing)

right now, the jailbreak is also buggy and will probably brick your 3G S

he probably released it so ppl go like "hes such an awesome coder, he jailbroke the 3G S before a whole group of devs did" or "put him back on the dev team" and other rants that could possibly rip the dev team apart

i would like to know if u think this is true or if im just crazy

I think you meant "prevent" future jailbreaks...

Do you have any proof at all that the jailbreak will brick your device?

He worked on it as a project, and felt that he was capable of presenting a working piece of software for the good of the jailbreaking community. If it was in an act of showing off, then thats his decision, and maybe he risks losing respect from other devs.

    1. It won't brick your phone. -_-
    2. There are more exploits in iBoot to use in the future.
    3. Geohot is a genius, along with the other people who worked with him. He can do whatever he wants.

Quoted for truth. Those who believe that they won't ever be able to jailbreak 3GSs in the future are extremely naive and/or misinformed. Finding exploits is what these people do. They'll always find new ones.

It's a tarp... nice one. Making yourself seem really believable here.

It amazes me the lack of appreciation people have.

You do know that he was the one detecting the whole in the 3GS, right?
Of course he has all the rights to release it.
And you know that he was the first to jailbreak the first iPhone, right?

As other have said: You should be really naive to think that there isn't at least one hole yet to be discovered.

Remember what they said about the 2nd Generation iPod Touch. "Its un-breakable"
then it became "We might have to do a hardware Jailbreak" then "We will only ever get a tethered Jailbreak" Now look at it, A fully fleged Jailbreakable device.

If worse was to come to worse, the dev team could do a (lets hope not) a hardware Jailbreak. Or just release a patch for iTunes that stops it from checking for the iBEC.

But still, Geohot is a brilliant person, and was voted out of the dev team for sugesting hardware mods. Not for being some evil genius who wanted to brick your devices. He released this for the community, not for the publicity. And of course the BETA!! is going to be buggy, thats why it is a BETA release. Plus he is working on it (I presume) pretty much by himself, so its gonna be slightly buggy. And if he was working on something, he has the right to release it. Just because the dev team are going to release it too, doesnt mean he cant.

It will all work out, and Geohot should at least get some props for his work, instead of getting bagged on by some noob who probably couldnt code the first line of what Geohot has made. So seriously, give it a rest. Constructive critism is fine, but just being mean for the sake of it is just sad.
