My iPoT's screen turned white. What's wrong and what can I do?

Spec: iPod Touch 1G 8GB, FW 2.2 Jailbroken

iTunes responded to it and I almost restored it thru iTunes. Fortunately, I remember that VNC server was installed in it, so I tried to access it via an UltraVNC viewer. To my surprise, the device is working! I can see my apps and can open them. I can play music and video. I can turn it off. All via the VNC viewer.

I tried to scroll the home screen by tapping on the ipod touch, and again the device responded.

The only problem is I can't see anything on the screen of the device. Only a white screen.

    Here's a video.

Try taking a screenshot, Home and Power button together, see if that kicks it to life.

Do a hard reset (home and power until boot logo appears).

Thanks for the reply Ben. I tried taking screenshot and I think it is working because I can view the new images in My Computer\Apple iPod.

But still the device did not return to normal. The screen is still white blank.

Thanks sheskah for your suggestion but this did not return my iPod to normal.
I tried it hundred times already.

I'm getting a bad feeling about this. Could it be a hardware failure?

I'm planning to restore it but still in doubt because I won't be able to access it via VNC after restoring. What do you think? Should I give it a shot?

Watch this video to understand what I mean.
