At the end of August, my current contract with Sprint ends, and i'm going to move to AT&T to get an iPhone. My problem is, should I get an iPhone 3g when I know it can always be jailbroken and it's $100 dollars cheaper, or should I get the newer, faster, more expensive 3g s with its features, but potential non-jailbreaking ability by then?

iphone 3G if you dont mind its slower. you can get MMS, video, and compass with the 3G. so its pretty much the same other than the speed. im gettin the 3G because i dont mind its slower. so think about it.

I guess I agree with you, but the 32gb of space on the 3g s looks pretty promising...

The iPhone 3G S is always going to be jailbroken... and the difference in speed from the 3G to the 3G S is crazy.

Its only 100$ more, and its definitely worth it.

I know it will always be jailbroken but when I get the 3g s at the end of August, it won't have the same iBoot exploit available. So, I'm basically asking if you think the dev team will be able to find a new exploit then.

They are always going to find an exploit.

The hardware is worth the extra cost in my opinion.

I don't know if I would say always... But I guess you're right. If Geohot was able to find an exploit within a week of it coming out, they should be able to find an exploit for 3.1.1 or whatever's out then.

3GS definately, its so fast its ridiculous. and the guy who said the 3g will have compass is talkin crap. the video quality on the 3GS is brilliant as with the photo quality, the 3GS is definately worth the extra $100, and by the time you get it, the dev team will be hard at work finding another exploit. i mean they JBed the 3GS literally a week after it came out, i don't doubt them.
