Craigslist. eBay. And it's not ridiculous if it fits your needs. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but your statement is irreverent to the user who actually invests in a device to meet their preferences and needs. You don't see blind people using S-voice...I've seen several blind people with iPhones walking around asking SIRI all sorts of things.
REALLY?!.... I personally don't even see the point in me updating as an iPhone 4 user. But I refuse to dish out another $600 to Apple. Apple is so against jailbreaking but it wouldn't happen as much if they weren't so money hungry. And of course there's those Dumb*** ppl that feed into apples game which only keeps adding fuel to the fire. I'll happily use jailbreak work arounds until I can upgrade to the next iPhone.
Yeah, crap like this is the reason I'm switching off of the iPhone. I'm fed up with Apple releasing minor hardware updates alongside a new software feature, then denying such features to perfectly capable hardware. So far.. They dropped the iPod touch 3rd gen, yet kept the iPhone 3GS Dropped the iPad 1st gen, but kept the iPhone 4 Denied Facetime over 3G to iPhone 4 and iPad 2 users, yet let the users who purchased their newest device have it. ...and more! So if you want these new (software) features, shell out another $600 dollars! Seriously, this whole process of releasing new hardware with a new software feature or two in order to create an illusion of "improvement" upon the old hardware is frustrating.
Wow, really apple. Way to screw over long term customers, you guys have no excuse, siri could be run on the original iphone if you wanted it too. Crippling software is absolute BS, You haven't maxed out the 3GS or 4 so why are you guys acting like it. As much as I love the iPhone, apple sucks. I would have cydia on all ios devices and have the tweaks screened, I would put multitasking, wallpapers and notification on ALL iphones and keep them snappy without the useless launch daemons, don't exclude features, find a reason to get people to buy iPhones without being a**holes. Seriously why the need to get a new device EVERY YEAR, thats not a long time. Hell the ipod touch 4 and iphone 4 and above should last well over 10 years, it sounds insane but we need to stop taking tech for granted. Also the 1st ipad can easily run ios6 He shouldn't hath to..if it can run it, it should.
People getting upset over the fact that apple keeps releasing new devices and holding back the older ones need to realize that apple is a business. If they didnt do this they would be hurting potential revenue, which is the main reason apple exists in the first place. Think about it. I have an iPad 2. Why in the heck would I want to buy the new iPad? The retina display is amazing but to me it's not worth spending extra cash on especially when I have a perfectly capable piece of hardware. So how does apple try to further convince me to pay for better hardware? Make me want the new features. I would have no business buying another $700-800 iPad since I have an iPad 2, so they make me pay for a newer device which has more features by holding them from me. If they didn't do this to us, they would lose out on tons of money because people like me could just update to ios6 and enjoy Siri. Sure the hardware is more than capable of it, and sure we probably deserve to have it since it costs virtually nothing to enable it, but apple wouldnt make *as much money as possible* so they will always refuse to do this. apple is first and foremost a business, and their biggest goal is to make *as much money as possible* and they do it quite well. They dominate the mobile device markets and have figured out a way to keep their business' future secure. So go Apple! Good for them. They continue to do what no other company has been able to do, and they are smart about it. Sure it may upset us that they withhold features from more than capable devices, but apple doesn't owe us anything. It's in their best interest to try to convince us to buy a new product, some of us will, and some of us won't. I am one of the ones who won't. I am very tempted to get the new retina MacBook though, that thing is beautiful. But I am happy with my iPad 2 for now, I want the new features though, so as soon as I can, I'm going to JAILBREAK TO GET THE FEATURES I WANT. I advise others who read this post to do the same if they want the new features (your devices are capable of having the new features, if you don't want to upgrade just jailbreak and be happy!) but please don't bash apple for trying to maintain a business and their spot as the leader of a highly competitive market.
Because it is Apple's way of doing things. Dam, my 3gs and ipod touch 4g is not supported by any features on ios 6. WTF what's the point of even letting these device upgradeable to ios 6. What to patch jailbreak exploits or something?!?!
Personally, I'm not surprised by any of this, in fact I expect the 3Gs to only get support for half the cycle like with the touch 2g. Still, it's one reason why I'm looking to go Android, because even if the maker no longer releases roms, as long as the bootloader is unlocked there's usually a third party rom I can use. Probably because of App compatibility. Also, expect a hack to enable most missing features at some point similar to siri.
First I still don't get Siri, and now Flyover. I'm starting to not see a reason to upgrade to 6.0. I don't need to keep Cupons on my iPod, I don't keep Photos on my iPod, I don't care about Game Center. I use my iPod for Music, Wed, Maps, and Single Player Games. I hope that Google will still let my iPod try 3D Maps.
