Where is firmware stored?

    Sorry, just wanted to know where ipod touch firmware is stored on your computer because I've just sold my iPod and want to restore it to 2.1. Everytime I click restore, it makes me update to 2.2 which takes too long so it would be easier to shift-click.

    They are stored here:

    C:\Documents and Settings\{USER NAME}\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates

    if your on a mac, its in user-library-itunes-ipod software updates.

    Alright, removed it just in case. But, it doesn't feel like piracy to me, because that page gives you direct links to the firmware files on Apple's website.

    well... giving paid stuff is piracy in itself, it doesnt matter if apple just screwed up at protecting the files
