itunes for Windows is really slow and laggy and uses large amounts of RAM on most PCs.

That's because it's coded to use one thread/core. So unless you have an Intel i-series CPU with single thread turboBoost or a very high clocked (3.6-3.8 GHz) single core CPU, itunes will perform badly.

Most machines/laptops these days have over 2.0 GHz dual core processors, and many desktops now have quad-core CPUs, from AMD and Intel Core 2 Quads, which do not have single thread turbo boost.

when will Apple start to optimize itunes for windows to use at least 2 threads? Most people have dual core CPUs, and it would really help simplify their user experience.

LOL, I can guarantee you that iTunes uses more than 1 thread.

Maybe it was talking about an older version :/. But still I have 4 cores and it lags. And my laptop has 2 cores and it lags.

A program's use of multiple threads (basically any GUI app does that) does not imply use of multiple processor cores.

Oh, well I phrased it wrong. I meant using multiple cores.

Well iTunes will stop lagging on PCs when, mhmn, Apple stops hating PC users and trying to make us buy a iMac. And thats, umh, NEVER!
Seriously, I might be flaming, but I think that Apple does that on purpose...

iTunes runs better on my Dell mini 9 than my M11X. All because of Snow Leopard.
