I mistakenly posted this on a wrong forum. Please pardon the duplication. Anyway, here's my question:

I just purchased my first iPod Touch 3G/64 and I'm running 3.1.2 software. I read that the third generation devices have chipset for wifi-n. Is there any scuttlebut about whether Apple will release new software that will support the greater range of "n" networks? When?

    Thanks from this newbee,

Posted this in your other thread......

It's true it does support 802.11n and also FM Transmit/Receive. Rumor has it that Apple will enable it at a later date, 802.11n anyway. I don't think it's going to happen though. I think it's disabled for battery longevity. I could be wrong though, Apples done this type of thing in the past. Apples shipped 802.11n Mac's before and charged people later to enable it. See, so it could happen.
