I posted a thread like this on MacRumors, and almost everyone there who posted on that thread connected to the internet around the early nineties, and I'm curious if that's the same story here (Which I highly doubt)

Anyway, for me it was 1999. Y2K was upon us, and I remember using the almighty and faster than the speed of light AOL. I was 7 back then.
What about you guys and gals?

2000s. I remember having AOL and dialup. My Mom couldn't use the phone with dialup.

Around 1999. We had Windows 98 second edition and "progity" (sp) dial up on a computer we bought from the Tv shopping channel QVC. It was some off brand with 500mhz intel PIII (it was said to be the fastst processer at the time)

I remember if you were idile for a while the dial up will turn it self off by saying "Good bye" (We may hvae had AOL, I dpon't remember. I was only 9 at the time)

I used to connect to Bulletin Boards in 1982 on my BBC Micro through old clunky ~4000 baud dial up.. does that count as the interweb?

I'm surprised that 1996-1999 has the most votes (although I did vote for that).
