I've tried and tried to connect to my ITouch with WinSCP, following the directions on how to do so perfectly, but I always get "Network error: connection timed out" every time I've tried. Using SSH is successful at work, so there must be a problem with the way my router is setup. I have WEP encryption on, if that is a problem, and SSID broadcast is off. Is there any important setting that I should have turned off/on in order for this to work? Please help, I'm getting tired of this unknown error!

Make sure you have installed open ssh on your ipod touch, then in winscp, find somewhere where it talks about connection timeout or something, put that number (it should be on 15) up to something like 45. Then try again

I already have OpenSSH installed on my iTouch. But I'll try increasing that time thing, thanks. Let you know if it works.

    Edit:

Nope, no dice. If this is any indication, when I click "login" and the window pops up to show the progress, it is just blank white. Anyway, any other tips that can help me solve my problem?

    I have this problem too..
Since I'm on JB 2.01, I can't SSH anymore into my iPod.

Never had a problem with SSH when I was on 1.1.4 :-s

Yesterday I've tried the FreePops mail thing on iPodTouchFans frontpage where you have to SSH first via the MobileTerminal

I also get an error when I tried the SSH command.

Is it the OpenSSH or Firmware 2.0.1?

I really starting to hate 2.0.0...
After 2 updates and it's still buggy...

I thought Apple was the best...
    Seems it isn't..

Run a clean uninstall of winscp, then install again and see if it works

Nope. Did what you said and tried again: still doesn't work. I'm thinking my router might be the problem though.

ssh on the ipod has always been a little buggy...

I find that sometimes i need to push some data from the ipod over te network to make ssh acknowledge a connection.... normally I will try to ping my ipod ip address from my PC.. if this does not respond it is normally a sign the unit is 'sleeping' so ssh wont work...

At this point I find that opening Safari and browsing a few pages until the unit starts to respond to a ping and then ssh should also allow a connection..
