Big time newb here, this is my first iPod Touch I've ever owned and I'm trying to make my way through all the stuff out there but it's a little overwhelming. From what I gather some people are afraid that the ECID SHSH crap from Apple is going to make jailbreaking impossible? Or at least let Apple know you have a jailbroken iPod? I don't understand what's going on there

I got the 64G iPod, and I'm not sure if I'm mistaken but I believe it came with the 3.0.1 firmware and that I upgraded to the 3.1.1, That's the version I have now, anyway. I know a jailbreak is supposed to be coming out soon so do I have to worry about Apple spying on my activities? Any advice/resources/links to decent articles on this subject will be greatly appreciated, as well as any potential jailbreak apps I should be waiting for. I guess pois0n is supposed to be getting released soon?

Anyway, I appreciate any feedback you guys give me.

Good stuff! I appreciate that article. They really broke it down Barney style for those of us who don't know what the hell is going on. Looks like I don't really have to worry about that as I already have 3.1.1 and the jailbreak for 3.1.2 is coming out soon, anyway.

    ahmm, well

you own an ipod touch, so you dont have to worry about the ECID
the only way apple would know you jailbroke would be by either you telling them or taking your device to an apple store, or that they somehow made some software to do the same think they tried with the phones

as i understood, you are know on 3.1.1, well, go ahead and get 3.1.2 before you get stuff and become afraid of restoring, then get this jailbreak application called blackra1n

this will jb your device in like 30 seconds.

    edit: ninja´d twice

    anything else, ask for help

so can someone explain to me why you need to backup the shsh blobs if you ever want to jailbreak ever..
"Everyone with an ipt3g needs to use blackra1n to jailbreak, then use cydia to save their shsh blobs. Or you won't be able to jailbreak ever
about 1 hour ago from Echofon "
