I was just wondering... What's the point of SSH?
It seems to just be a way to move files to/from the PC and my iDevice.

I can do the same thing with iFile and Dropbox.

Is there any real reason to use SSH over iFile+Dropbox, or is it just what most people use?

Yes, it gives root access to the iPod/iPhone. If you do not need that, your solution should work.
