I am already on firmware 2.0. What's the point in jailbreaking it? Are there any more benefits than what I already have now?

Yea, as in Installer/Cydia/All Your Favorite Jailbroken Apps That the developers have ported to 2.0. Right now, that's 4 apps.

well it's always good to be future proof.
there are no apps now, but once your favourite one ports over you will have to restore, install the new firmware, loose all your music etc.

so i figure, why not do that now
get my ipod back in order
and now i'm all set for the future and it will be no hastle when it comes time to downloading my favourite installer apps.

SSH into your ipod, opens up a load of possibilities eg custom levels in some appstore games.
