Whats the difference between restoring using iTunes or through the touch?

    Whats the difference between restoring using iTunes or through the touch?

    Through iTunes it doesn't take very long but if you do it through the touch it takes 4 hours for a 32gb.

    You can't restore through the iPod touch... can you?

    There must be some difference because of the huge time between both methods ????

    You cannot restore Firmware on your iPod Touch without iTunes.

    Erase all content and settings through the iPod takes 4 hours on a 32gb

    Restoring through iTunes will usually only kill the system partition and copy the firmware back onto it... unless you're doing a factory restore, which can take like a half-hour or more, and that wipes both the system and media partitions.

    The 'Erase All Content and Settings' feature on the iPod Touch just resets the settings to the default and deletes the files off the Media partition, IIRC. It doesn't restore the firmware to the original, factory-stock state.

    EDIT: i see what your saying, that is a "restore", but not a full "restore" with firmware and all

    It is NOT a restore all it does it erase the content on your ipod and set all settings to default, ITS NOT A RESTORE!!!!!!!
