What's the best free video encoder everyone is using?

    Uh.. I wouldn't use that site you posted. Looks shady as hell to me. There's absolutely no indication it's even real software.

    www.videora.com is probably the most well known free converter

    Yeah, I thought it looked a little 'download this and a virus will f*** you up' type of site...

    thanks for that link. Am installing xilisoft as well now.

    Videora and xilisoft don't seem to be able to convert rmvb files? Any other converter?

    I've been very successful with a conventional ripper and Handbrake. Another package I've used from time to time is AVS Media Converter. I use AVS when I want to convert MP4 files to other formats such as 3gp or WMV. Quick Time Pro and MPEG Streamclip can also convert between formats. Alas, AVS and QT Pro are not free. MPEG Streamclip is free.
