    use redsnow 0.8
its almost guaranteed to work and no matter what you do to ur ipod(software wise) you can always fix it. there is a chip inside of your ipod that forces it to let itunes restore it(DFU chip) if u need the site to download redsnow let me know

edit: what firmware are you trying to jailbreak? you have 2.2.1 but are you going to update or staying with 2.2.1?

No, use redsn0w 0.3 for 2.2.1. The latest one is for 3.0.

    redsn0w was always there.

purplera1n, 24kpwn, QuickFreedom, QuickPwn, ZiPhone, etc. are all just imitators

    2.2.1 - redsn0w 0.3 (command-line beta)
    3.0 - redsn0w 0.7.1, redsn0w 0.7.2, or redsn0w 0.8

    iPod Touch 2g (I'm using the 32Gb)
iTunes 8.2.0.23 (or the new 8.2.1)
OS3.0 firmware (pay for the upgrade or find the 3.0 ipsw file)
    redsn0w 0.7.2 ("heard" 0.7.1 wasn't as stable as 0.7.2...and I haven't seen a download for .8, so I have no input there...but 0.7.2 works like a champ)

It's seriously a no-brain operation if you have the above and can follow on-screen instructions. The whole operation should take maybe 15-20 mins from a clean restore to being jailbroken.

P.S. If during the jailbreaking process, it seems to get stuck on a screen "waiting for reboot" - just unplug it, cancel out and re-run redsn0w.

    shortperson1026's Untethered tutorial
    http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=139120

will that be trusted? i used it for the 2.2.1 and i am having the same question as celebgamb.

i am also wondering if i jailbroke my ipod touch with the shortpersons1026's (Untethered tutorial) am i able to restore without apple knowing that i jailbroke it? i am aswell paranoid about getting my ipod sent back to me without being fix cause of this.

    thank you.
