I am using Quickpwn22 to jailbreak. here's what I get.

"The IPSW file you selected (ipod1,1_2.2) does not match the firmware version of your device (iphone1,1_2,2). Please note that Quickpwn does not upgrade your firmware, it only jailbreaks whatever firmware you currently have on your device."

I downloaded the 2.2 firmware a couple of days ago.

To me it looks like it thinks my itouch is an iphone.

My current version on the itouch is 2.2 (5G77)

    HELP.

FYI, I did download the version 2.2 from the itunes site. Is that where the problem is, and if it is, what's the fix?

As long as you're not using 2g I have no clue. Try what 03199618 says.

I restored, but the 2.2 firmware was still there. It didn't restore back to the way I bought it. Should I still reload 2.2?

Try deleting the firmware file and let iTunes redownload it. It may be corrupted. Also note that some sites illegally hosting the firmwares have upped and incorrectly labelled the f/w files - I read that somewhere in the forums here the other day.

OK- I re did the 2.2 firmwear. Now on the quickpwn page, it finds the correct file, but I get an error:

    "Firmware error string"

    Any idea what that means?
