Ok, so I have an iPhone 4. I've saved my SHSH's for iPhone iOS 4.0.1 through Cydia.

Now I want to restore my phone. Is there a special way I need to do it? Or I can I just do it through iTunes as I normally would? (Option + Click restore and locate the 4.0.1 software)

    Thanks.

If apple has stopped signing 4.0.1, you have to change the apple host files to saurik's servers. I'll dig up the tutorial for that give me a sec

Edit: This tutorial is for 3.1.3 but it's the same process for 4.0.1

    Ok guys, it didn't work.

First time, it got stuck half way on the iPhone progress screen. Second time, it just stays on the 'preparing iPhone for restore' screen in iTunes.

    Any suggestions?

Did you add this to the bottom of the host file: 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

I didn't use the tutorial because the other guy said I don't need to cos I'm not downgrading.

My iPhone was already on 4.0.1 and I just wanted to restore. Should I use the tutorial?

Well you need to use the tutorial. This is why it's not working. SHSH blobs are not just for downgrading. You have to use them when restoring too.

Ah I see. Thanks. I'm just trying on my Windows PC as we speak, and if that doesn't work I'll give it a go. Thanks a lot man.
