I've been wondering: does the number of music on your iPod make it overall slower? My iPod has been going slow and just wondering. I have about 550 songs right now on it (16GB). Do apps slow it down?

Apps that run on the background slow it down (Winterboard, SBSettings,etc...) It has nothing to do with the number of songs you have. I have 1129 and they dont affect the performance of my iPhone.

Winterboard runs in the background? So you mean it's ALWAYS being used even when your not in the program? Wow that sucks... How can you tell if an app is running in the background anyway?

Well, winterboard only runs in the background when themes are on and you have things selected.
SBSettings is something I can't live without. It also can help you stop tasks running in the BG.
With the newest SBSettings, you can click on Processess. Then it will display what is running. From there you can completely close apps and unused things.

I'm pretty sure mobile substrate in general makes it slower
