Hey all, im going to buy an ipod touch within the next few days, i just need help deciding whether to buy an 8gb or 16gb.
I have 4.32gb of music (a few hundred mbs i wouldnt listen to so i dont have to put on)
I will have lots of apps (legit)
(probably like 500-800mb based on what ive read? Im not sure tho)
I have quite a few movies that i can put on, however I wouldnt need to have them all on there at once, i can just delete them from the iPod after watching i guess...

How much space would i have left with all my music and apps, but with only say 2 or 3 eps of family guy (probably would take 400 or 550mb)?
To know this i need to know how much the os uses. Also, some apps can be stored on a seperate partition not taking room from the hdd?
Sort of related question: I saw something that copies apps from the normal section reserved for them to the hard drive so you can get more, can you still use the apps from the hdd or is it just for storage?

    Thanks for the help

    in a clean 8GB model.
you will have around 6,86GB for personal use.
    Determine if that is enough.

    I have 219 song
    15 movies
    68 apps
    400 pictures

around 0,5 gb left of memory on my 8GB

My movies are converted in DVD quality so the size on them ranges from 140-250 MBs

the size on apps can vary big time.
Some apps are under 1 MB.
    Some are over 100MB

Assassin's creed, NFSU, Terminator salvation are big games at around 100MB.
I don't really play terminator salvation so I can replace that one with 100+ other apps.

It really depends, some apps are really fun even though the size is tiny.

    basically:

8GB - if you like songs and music, and jut want it for a few games

16GB - if you like songs, music, lots of games and movies

(i went for the 16GB version, still got about 3GB left, so at least i know i won't run out of space.)

I only have about 500 songs on my iPod, 4 movies, and 2 pages of apps. That already takes up 8 Gigs.
I used to have about 10 movies, but I deleted them after I restored my iPod.

So it's exactly as SumDaii said. 8GB for Music/Games. 16GB if you want a bunch of Videos.

Unless you have a ton of movies, like my cousin. You'd probably want a 32GB iPod, then.

    you should get the 16GB

you are not worried about the space and you can fit TV shows and movies on it easily

    i have a 16GB

I replied ur other thread in the General Chats earlier, mate...

Anyway, I suggest u go for the 16gb, if budget is not an issue... I have around 650+ songs as well as 20+ apps (incl. 8 games) of various sizes... Out of the 14.5GB of available memory space, ten gigs are still available... Although it has to be noted that I have more than 500 pix but zero videos!

I got a 16gb and was relieved i didn't get the 8gb because one movie is about 2gb if it is good quality. Also, depending on how many apps you want, you'll probably want leave at least 1gb. Thats how much mine take up and i haven't gone overboard with them.

    Cool.

How many movies do you have, though?
