I was planning on buying the 3.0 software but then I heard my 1G won't get bluetooth which totally ruins the point of getting it. Are there enough new features in 3.0 that are worthy for the wasting of my $10? (Actually $9.99...my bad)

An increasing number of applications are/will be only for 3.0 and higher. If you have no reasons, there's one.

Only when all your favorite apps require it

1st gen don't have bluetooth. 2nd gen have bluetooth, the Nike + support used that bluetooth, but its enabled for wireless earphones/headsets on the 3.0 firmware.

Bluetooth is useless for people without BT headphones.

I got it because I like staying up to date. The new apps always work with the latest firmware.
