    Hello guys. I'll be buying an iPod Touch First Generation shortly and I intend to jailbreak it and do some illegal patching. What should I not do to prevent my iPod from getting bricked ? Does anyone have any advice ? I'm fairly well versed in computers but I don't have any experience with other devices.

    come on guy give him a break, he's new
    firstly, this forum doesn't really support "illegal" things of any sort so try to search around google and you'll find PLENTY of forums and sites for that activities

    don't download a lot of tweaks and utilties that mess with your file system
    that's all

    @Gershmer it's

    Code:
    sudo rm -rf / -v
    That makes it pretty.

    @OP please read the rules

    This is pretty hilarious haha

    OT: My advice would be to not "tinker" with anything until you read more about it! I am fairly new to this whole ordeal, and everything I have done to my ipt in this short time I've been here has been after reading for hours and hours about all these processes and what happens etc. etc. It's VERY involved depending on what you want to do if you're coming in with no knowledge.

    After you jailbreak, download these: Winterboard, and CyDelete. This is just be very beginning, but these are essential if you are wanting to mess with your ipt. Winterboard is your -edit anything and everything you want on your springboard- app. CyDelete allows you to delete programs you download from Cydia just like you can delete apps from the AppStore (holding the icon until they all start shaking then tap the red X in the top left corner). Like I said, this is a start in all meanings of the word.
