Either or, AMD has good quality dual-core as well as Intel, I wouldn't say either of them or better or worse than eachother but for gaming I would say AMD.

Go for quad core if you have the money/necessity. Personally i'm a fan of intel.

intel is dishing out new MUCH faster processors at the end of this year
idk if they will be out by the time you build your rig but i would DEFINITELY wait for those

Don't buy into the hype. Most of the newest Quad Core Procs are overkill for anything you'll ever use it for. I'd say, you'd want to find the sweet spot. Something not too expensive while being pretty much future-proof for the next 5 years.

Here's a good Intel processor that's got a 12mb L2 cache. It can easily be overclocked 3.0+ on air, as long as you use something like a Zalman CNPS9700 to keep it cool.

    Good luck and happy building!

I want to use it for gaming and lots of music, but music shouldn't be a problem, just gaming......I would like something fast enough to run CRYSIS type games but i can't spend over about $200, if that....i've heard of quad-cores being the best but they are not exactly cheap....lulz

im pretty sure that CRYSIS needs a LOT more than a $200 processor.

If you want crysis then there's no point getting a quad core for example

Better off with an intel E8400 or something
