Blender has the most awful learning curve of any 3D CAD application I have ever used!

...well, actually, it's second to Houdini, that program is crazy.

I recommend to you Cinema 4D. It's absolutely wonderful for beginners, and is top quality for experts too. It's got a 30 day trial which I recommend to you and, if you're a student, it's very well priced at £81.

However, if you're looking for something which is a bit more technical and you have plenty of time on your hands, then I do suggest Blender or Houdini Apprentice. Both are free (unlike Cinema 4D), but nowhere near as easy to use.

    Linkies:
    Blender (provided by Tes)
    Cinema 4D
    Houdini Apprentice

3dsMax is not available for mac, unless you use bootCamp to install windows XP. For Mac, I'd recommend Houdini.

Awesome, let me know how it goes. If you need any help, I'll do what I can to lend a hand.
