What is the normal place system memory should be at? Mine is always between 20 and 18. Is that normal? Should it be higher?

Mine can reach between 40-50MB. Then again, I have a 2G touch which is said to have more RAM than the original iPhone. Just close things like Mail, Safari and iPod to bring it up.

iPhone free memory is normally around 20% but can be 10-20% if you have recently used Safari, mail or other stock apps. At best it will be 40-50% when memory has been 'cleaned'. This is on a non-jailbroken iPhone fyi.

Check the 'RAM' link in my sig for some useful tips on managing memory.
