what is the black part on the back of the ipod?

    you see the black square on the back side of the ipod....what isit for exactly? its just strange having a silver back and then a little square black part?

    That is if I am not mistaken the accelorometer. Like the thing that knows when u tilt the iPod like for coverflow and iphysics

    Thats where the WiFi-Antenna is located.

    oh ok thanks for clearing it up, so basically its not good to cover it up then like with a case?

    as long as it is not made of a shielding material/metal, there shouldn't be a problem.

    Factory made cases should be fine for the wi-fi reception. Just in case you come across it, that faint dot at the left of the top black bit on the front is the ambedient light sensor.

    lol at the accerleometer idea.

    The accelerotmeter consists of 2 gyro's, on the main PCB, near the home button I believe.
    The WiFi antenna lies under the black plate. Covering it with a case isn't a problem, inless it's made from lead.
