my dad wants me to look into push apps for gmail accounts, and ive found quite a few. he wants one that tells him, on the lockscreen, that there is an email to be read, like when he gets texts. i think that eliminates all but two. there is GPush, and PushGmail. both are the same price, and both have text-like alerts. PushGmail has a mobile gmail browser built in. It also has a 3.5 star rating, with 407 ratings. GPush just sends a simple notification. It has a 3 star rating, but with 1154 ratings. nothing special. so whats better? and a little bonus, but not necessary, does it work on ipod touches? i have an 1g, but he buying it, but just a little bonus.

    Get gpush.

And to be able to receive notifications, you need to be connected to wifi.

If he's connecting the iPod to a Mac, the default program for mail, "Mail" with iMap enabled with give you push notifications of your gmail account.

If it downloads on your 1G, then yes it is. But if it gives you an error message and says that it's 2G and above, then no.
