What is the battery life like when Wi-Fi is on, but without web surfing?

    I want it on so I can use skype all the time, if necessary, and receive texts.

    having wifi on, regardless of safari use, means the wifi chip in the ipod is turned on meaning it decreases the battery life - its not that much of a difference you should be fine leaving wifi on

    You shouldn't lose much battery. I'd just leave it on. It doesn't hurt the life too bad.
