it means that everytime you reboot your ipod touch *turn it all the way off then back on* you will have to reapply redsn0w hope this answered your question let me know if it did

Your jailbreak will be reset, and removed each time you turn off your iPod. You will need to re apply the patch to jailbreak it again.
    I think.

    Basicly.

The ipod boots something like this (simplified)

LLB (low leveled bootloader) -> iBoot -> Firmware (i think)

Now what redsn0w does is exploit a feature in the iBoot found in the 2.1.1 iBoot. This does not mean you have to downgrade to 2.1.1 as a 2.1.1 iBoot can be sent to the ipod on 2.2.

Now this means code which is not made by apple can run, and therefore the device can be jailbroken.

So now you have the device on and its jailbroken.

So now you turn the device off.

    It goes to boot.

LLB (low leveled bootloader) -> iBoot (now patched with redsn0w) -> Firmware (i think)

Now, the LLB. It Makes sure it is the iBoot made from apple. Because redsn0w is on it, it detects this and refuses to load the firmware. Therefore we get a white screen and cant load the firmware.

So what tethered means is that we have to connect the ipod to the computer, run the redsn0w patch in the 2.1.1 iBoot so that it loads up the firmware and carry on as normal.

Tethered means you are tied to the computer in order to boot it.

What the dev team are trying to do is fine a way of having the redsn0w patch load itself instead of having to connect your ipod to a computer every time you want to turn your ipod on.

    Hope this helped
