    I have a "64GB" iPod Touch. But really, it only has 59.something GB. What's stored on my iPod, in those 4.something GB?

    The Operating System. That's all. Happens to all iDevices. Space is required for the OS. No iDevice is the real GB it says it is.

    It's the 1024 MB -> 1GB rule.

    Not just that, but all storage devices must be formated before being used. Think of it as setting up the storage so things can be stored in a very organized manner. If you look at the hard drive in your computer, or a USB thumbdrive, you'll see the same thing.

    Thats done, which takes some space so things can easily be accessed, and then on top of that iOS is put into some of that space. Whats left over is your 59GB.

    What is really stored in an ipod touch is a poor apple rotting away because its not being used to its full potential..that is until you jailbreak
